My Bartending Career

My journey in bartending has been deeply enriching, rooted in the simple pleasures of childhood curiosity and familial influence. It all began within my childhood home, where my father’s little bar in the dining room sparked my earliest encounters with the world of spirits.

I fondly recall my first taste of cognac, an innocent dip of my little finger into my father’s nosing glass. Little did I know, that moment would ignite a lifelong fascination with the world of flavors and aromas.

In my childhood, my interest grew, and so too did my appreciation for the art of mixing and blending. Experimenting with colorful sports drinks and juices in the kitchen, I found joy in the harmonious marriage of ingredients. Credit for my love of flavors goes to my dear mother, whose passion for cooking and baking infused our home with warmth and fragrance.

In parallel, my father’s love for tennis and good food instilled in me an appreciation for the finer things in life, including well-crafted drinks and spirits. In my teenage years, this appreciation blossomed into a desire to explore the world of spirits further.

With the unwavering support of my parents, I set out to pursue my passion. In 2017, my journey led me to the vibrant city of Barcelona, where I immersed myself in the art of bartending. Living and learning at a bar school, and experiencing the diverse range of craft cocktail bars in the city, only deepened my interest in the craft.

Through the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with various brands, catering events, weddings, birthdays, etc. Each opportunity has been a humbling reminder of the vastness of the bartending world and the infinite possibilities it holds.

But perhaps the most unexpected twist in my journey came when I found myself at the doorstep of the Embury Bar in Frankfurt as a guest, many thanks to Antony (from Antony’s Bar Frankfurt) for his recommendation.

I ordered one of the most annoying cocktails, the Ramos Gin Fizz. Dominik Falger made me the best one I ever had in my life. The texture, the balance, the flavors just captivated me so much that Dominik and I started talking about his secret, which he explained to be the right temperature, the right amount of ice, and the balance of the best ingredients, etc. He saw the spark I had in my eyes and handed me his business card. Not long after sending him my CV, I started working there. His patience, trust, and his ability to see potential in me that I couldn’t even see in myself helped me to grow. His teachings about everything he knows are the most valuable things I ever got to experience in my whole bartending career. I am, to this day, incredibly proud and grateful to be his ‘padawan’. I could not ask for a better workplace, boss, teacher, best friend, and father figure.

Here at Embury Bar, I continue to pour my heart and soul into every cocktail, guided by a deep love and gratitude for the path that has led me here. As I strive to create memorable experiences for each guest who crosses our threshold, I am reminded that in the world of bartending, it is a career where you never stop learning and that a bar is more than just pouring drinks; it is connection
